problem with extruded handles...

I am coming into this conversation late, and I think the advice about the
extrusion maybe drying unevenly is a good lead. I currently pull my handle=
s
let them set up just enough not to be sticky, then add them to a leather
hard mug. Did about 6 dozen last week. What I think may be a compromise fo=
r
you, is to go ahead and extrude them, then using water, pull them just a
little. It there is an uneveness in the center, this may solve it. Also,
is it possible the part of the handle resting on the pvc pipe (the back of
the handle) is drying at a different rate than the part exposed to air?
Just a thought. You may be able to try setting them up in a loop that sit=
s
up and letting them dry slightly that way.

When I was trying to figure out the handles on mugs timing, I was very
surprised how soft my handles could be opposed to my mugs - they actually
attached better with a the mugs being hard and the handles quite soft. So
something else that you can try if you haven't already.

Good luck, and let us all know what works!
