Gene...

Here are a few to try. All the same base, which I believe I got from
Richard Burkett. I used this glaze on a ton of work about 10 years ago,
when I was still working at cone 10 R, and it was absolutely trouble-free.
It is a soft, waxy, satin glaze. I made up dozens of color variations.
Here are four of them:

BWM Base
^10R

Custer Feldspar: 41
Gerstley Borate: 12
Dolomite: 7
Talc: 15
EPK: 5
Silica: 20

Blue Frost:
Cobalt Carb: 0.5
Copper Carb: 2.5

Green Frost:
Copper Carb: 2.5
Zircopax: 6

Crystal Blue Persuasion:
Cobalt Carb: 0.5
Rutile: 6

Crystal Green Persuasion:
Copper Carb: 2.5
Rutile: 6

Enjoy your project.

We use one called "Coleman celadon" at the arts center where I teach. It
isn't a true celadon in that it appears to be a clear glaze with an additio=
n
of stain. It is also a runny glaze that was formulated to pool into
carvings. I will email it to you as soon as I get back to the center. I
believe we also have one called "Elaine's Blue" that is similar but with th=
e
addition of a vanadium stain.

This is a high magnesium glaze - not sure if it's stable - the
magnesium is over supplied according to all the limits I have.

You might want to have it tested for durability if it's going to be
used as a liner glaze.

Hi all - the glaze that James posted called BWM Base is also listed in John
Britt's high fire book as Emily's Purple and if you use ball clay instead o=
f
kaolin it's listed as Bringle Revised. Will have to try it out.
