just a word about tin as a colorant.... PINK!
If you have a chrome glaze in the kiln, and I dare say even if you recently
fired such, your tin will turn a lovely floral shade of pink.
So if you have a glaze like MC6 raspberry, or a chrome green in your kiln
load, all the tin will go from white to pink. It is a lovely pink, but may
not what you want.
I had made a noodle bowl for a chef friend, and her husband was jealous and
asked me to make one for him. I did, and glazed it with a white that
was tin/zircopax colored, and fired it with some chrome/tin glazed ware. It
was a beautiful pale petal pink, like you would give a baby girl. I gave it
to him anyway, with a promise to make a macho one next time......
