Plinth Gallery is pleased to welcome contemporary Yixing teapot maker =3D
Junya Shao for a 2 day workshop in Denver Colorado.
Her teapots are contemporary ideas about beauty and form, reflecting a =3D
strong foundation in exquisite craftsmanship and careful attention to =3D
detail and design. Junya Shao often combines contemporary imagery, such =
=3D
as a box of pencils, a back-pack, a piece of wood, or bamboo, while =3D
remaining respectful of Yixing tradition and history.
Junya Shao=3D92s career began with an apprenticeship in Yixing followed by =
=3D
studies in fine art at Jingdezhen Ceramic College. She has received =3D
numerous awards in China, Korea and the United States, including the =3D
prestigious Gold and Silver prizes in National Ceramic Art Competition =3D
in China. Her work has been exhibited internationally and she teaches =3D
workshops when she is in the U.S.
We are truly honored to host Junya for this workshop. Her exhibition, =3D
"Contemporary Yixing" will be at Plinth Gallery until September 24th. To =
=3D
the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that an exhibition of =3D
Yixing ware has been exhibited in the Denver area.=3D20
An artist's reception on Friday September 16 will kick off the weekend =3D
workshop, September 17-18. There are still a few spaces left to =3D
participate in the workshop.
The cost is $225 and includes 2 gourmet catered lunches from Fuel Cafe =3D
in Denver.
This will be a truly outstanding opportunity to learn all about Yixing =3D
teapots and how they are made from a master. Please call the gallery at =3D
