Given that Orton large cones are rated with a temperature increase of 150
deg C per hour and small cones are rated at 300 deg C per hour what rate of
temperature increase would be regarded as fast firing ?
A clay that is to be salt glazed must be fully vitrified before the salting
commences. It is not unusual for a salt glaze surface to craze and an
undercooked clay will weep or seep if fluids are stored in it.
Alternatively, a good reliable liner glaze is suggested.
