Note from the editor

Last September=3D2C I participated
in Zibo Wood Firing Festival in China and International Ceramic Art Educati=
=3D
on
and Exchange Symposium in Tokyo=3D2C Japan. From October 6th to 9th=3D2C
together with two Chinese artists=3D2C I participated in Ceramics Annual of
American. I would like to share some pictures with
everyone. =3D20

Zibo International Wood-firing
Festival=3D2C China=3D2C September 1-8=3D2C 2011

In 2005=3D2C the Korean style
claiming kiln of three chambers was built in the Taishan Ceramic Factory of
Zibo Shandong province by South Korea artist Mr. Yongmoon Kim and his team=
=3D
=3D2C
sponsored by the local Chinese artists and the government. Lee Middleman=3D=
2C=3D
the
former chairman of ACGA (Association of Clay and Glass Artists of Californi=
=3D
a)
has participated in the event a few times and became a key person who suppo=
=3D
rted
this event. There were over 40 artists from Korea=3D2C Turkey=3D2C Japan an=
d so=3D
me other
countries.=3D20



International Symposium of
Ceramic Art Education and Exchange (ISCAEE)=3D2C Tokyo=3D2C Japan=3D2C
September 17-28=3D2C 2011

It is hosted by Tokyo
University of the Arts=3D2C a few groups of teachers and students from Chin=
a=3D
=3D2C
Korea=3D2C the United States=3D2C and some other countries. Every participa=
te w=3D
as
excited by Anagama kiln firing. We all appreciate professor Shimada and his
Japanese faculty and student teams for their hard work to make this possibl=
=3D

2011 Ceramics Annual of
America=3D2C San Francisco=3D2C October 6th -9th

I have invited the two Chinese
artists Zhenhua Jin and Ming Zhang to come over for the event. Both of them
graduated from Tsinghua University=3D2C one of the best art schools in Chin=
a.=3D
A few
large ceramic artworks were shipped directly from Beijing to the exhibition
site-Fort Mason=3D2C San Francisco. Both of them got some pieces sold durin=
g =3D
the
