ohaus solution balance scales

There has been discussions about scales recently on Clayart. I use an
Ohaus triple beam balance scale the is very large and can accurately
weigh up to 20 kilos (45 pounds) . They are worth every penny I spent
for those scales. I know they cost as much as some wheels, but if you
mix large batches of glaze , there is less likely the chance of making a
mistake when weighing the materials for glazes. I used the Ohaus
smaller triple beam balance scales for many years and I found that if
you are mixing a large batch of glaze it is more likely to make a
mistake because of the need to weigh out an individual material several
times to get the amount of an individual material needed for a glaze. I
mike 30,000 gram batches so the larger scales are perfect for weighing
out the glaze materials. The scales are an Ohaus 1119d solution balance
scale and there is a very large scoop that can be purchased also.
Again, the problem is the cost and the scales will be about a $1,000
today. Bill
