i'm sorry and hey, there's foam in that cone box!

I apologise for calling ceramic pumpkins "crap". That was unkind and not
necessary. I guess what I wanted to say was I don't think kitchy, crudely
made holiday art should be in juried art shows. Now...will you rub my
belly? (Only dog people will get that joke.)

But, hey! I LOVE the foam that comes in the large cone boxes! Do you keep
yours? Here are some things I have used it for:
Packing material- good for small things. I also cut some into small squares
and then cut a hole out of the middle. I put the foam around the knob of a
lid and then turn the lid upside down on the pot and wrap together as one
piece.
I cut a perfect square and drop into a pot that I am going to square off. I
use the points of the square to find the corners of the pot.
I use it as a cushion under pots with delicate rims when I am trimming on
the giffen grip.
I cut small pieces at a sharp angle and use them to clean up the area of
handle attachments.
I have used small pieces for cold waxing.

What do you do with yours?

I use my cone box foam to cushion big bowls when packing for travel. I =3D
layer two together, criss-crossed, and put them in the bottom of one =3D
bowl before nestling another bowl inside it. I never use anything else =3D
for this, and I don't use the sheets in any other way. I don't buy cones =
=3D
anymore since I got my computerized kiln and only use my manual for =3D
back-up, so I've had these same foam sheets for years!
Funny question :)

I use them to cushion leatherhard pieces when trimming in bisque chucks.
They are just the right thickness to protect the surface.
Sometimes I crisscross them. Other times I'll cut a hole in the center of
it to allow for a long necked piece.

isnt that why art shows ARE juried?

Marci,

The jurying at lots of art and/or craft shows consists of holding your chec=
k=3D
up to see if it is signed. It is one of the most misused terms by organiza=
t=3D
ions who just want your money. There are honest and rigorously juried shows=
,=3D
but they are getting few and far between.
