Hi Marcie=3D2C Carol=3D2C=3D20
Dangerous ground=3D3B this attempting to assume that you/I/we have a handle=
o=3D
n what real art is as opposed to those other folk's "kitchy crap".
Sorrrry but there are a lot of schmaltzy sentimentalists drooling over and =
=3D
spending money on the
drivel (my opinion) of kitchy pincushion kitties.
Even these could be elevated to a fine art status if someone cared enough t=
=3D
o express
Kitchie Kitties as a timeless and universally acknowledged metaphor for a f=
=3D
acet
of the human condition.
Actually this (crap=3D3B in some folks opinion) does speak volumes of truth=
a=3D
s to our
historical and present human condition.=3DA0 How thin our veneer that separ=
at=3D
es "us"
Art itself has defied a comprehensive and universal agreement as to what ar=
=3D
t is and isn't so what is one doing in a show like that anyway if your bent=
=3D
is elsewhere.=3D20
Let them have their juror. Let them have their fun. Usually the juror is a =
=3D
local Sunday Painter of "picture in the local paper" notoriety who's bias a=
=3D
nd decisions won't shake the art world beyond the doors of the show. These =
=3D
folks are just as convinced as to the rightness of what they are doing beca=
=3D
use it feels good=3D2C the colors are nice and the work represents affordab=
le=3D
acquisition of stuff to fill empty spaces on walls and unconscious holes i=
=3D
n self=3D2C as is any juried show by art literate artists and jurors who wo=
ul=3D
d believe that their same human needs are more sophisticated.
One has only to see the truth that there are pigs wallowing about in palace=
=3D
s and princes toiling in fields.=3D20
All humans share the same physiology as to pleasure receptors in the brain =
=3D
and being=3D3B one is not a higher or more refined physical response than a=
no=3D
ther.
One must simply research the show and juror(s) so as not to wind up in the =
=3D
"wrong Show" and then
bet the fee on your work as to whether it will hold its own.
