The potter probably told you manganese dioxide in granular form.
Stir in after sieving glaze, couple percent.

Take care with that; it's nasty stuff!!
Better to take a wire brush to some old iron or steel or knock rust flakes =
o=3D
ff an old stove chimney or anything rusty and crush them. Sieve it through =
a=3D
30 mesh and start with 5% in your glaze. You'll get some nice varied non-t=
o=3D
xic speckles.
