Subject: Magnesium Carb.
I recently came up with some nice low fire glazes using magnesium
carbonate. My favorite test tile had the addition of 15% magnesium
carbonate which created some nice crawling resembling a high fire shino.
Can anybody tell me about the toxicity of Magnesium carb? I would like
to use this on my raku fire tea bowls.
Thanks.

Magnesium Carbonate (Light) is often used in table salt to improve "flow".
I think that might answer your question!

Magnesium carbonate is not toxic as far as I know. Magnesium matte glazes=

some of the nicest glaze out there.=3D20
You can certainly add it to Raku glazes. There are lots of lichen and cr=

awl glazes=3D20
for low fire.
Beads cone 05
33.3 Magnesium Carbonate
26.7 Borax
33.3 Gerstley Borate
6.7 Silica

Depending on what temperature you fire to (in your raku), you can just ad=

frit or less magnesium carbonate to your liking,
