many of you older comp folks will get a kick out of
my farm computer.
it is an old commercial ibm tower.
i have windows xp on it.
rebuilt the entire machine.
it has an external us robotics modem. (remember those?...and
the hassle to get them to work. `this computer does not recognize
the modem` gd rassfle flax #^$#&)
dial up.
i have eudora mail.
and, i can send mail through clear lake
phone smtp, but receive mail through pop3mail.visi.com
i never thought i could get it to work...but, bingo...it does.
just slow as can be. and, if someone sends me a 50 gig movie
download bs sort of thing...or political essay 50 pgs long, it
takes like 40-60 minutes to download it...and, once it starts, no way
to get it off. makes me crazy what folks send out that they
`just know` i will love.

so, i will get melpots2 on my farm eudora.
it costs like 6 bucks a month for 20 hours of
dial up.

and, i still use eudora for clayart. i am used to it, i only use
it for clayart and it is never filled with downloads, ads or other
bs. (visi blocks everything.) when i turn on eudora, i know i am doing clay=
art...and i cannot
be bothered when doing it...it is sort of rote. read, return, enter, enter=
,
ok, send. almost no other mail on this except clayart.

i also keep all the codes for clayart at my finger tips. so, i hate to do
clayart away from this special computer here in my `nerve center`.

i can sure say that i love window 7 pro/extreme. and my seagate 1000 gig
hard drive and huge ram makes life very nice. and, this kickass sound and
video card is perfect....this is now a very high end gaming machine..the
only thing it does not have is coolant going through the body...but, it
has all the holes for tubing installed. don't think i need that.
but, i did install two large fans. (gorilla glue) god purists hate that.
(i can hear gail screaming now. but, she is proud of me for building
this entire system by myself.) 64 bit is nice. but, it will only let win7
be installed. but, that is ok.

it is fun to think that i am the tech support for my two grown grandkids.
thomas has a big mac, now wants to use `bootcamp` so i am installing
winxp home on his mac. i transferred the disc to a thumb drive and
will install it on his new mac leopard system. lots of tch support for thi=
s
on the mac home page.
and, a couple of million i phones have been sold this year...amazing.
i just may have to get one. that old verizon touch is really a pain.
life is good in the tech medium to fast lane.
