glaze for many years. it is still a dandy.

TAK fat white is the closest thing I have found to Shino, in low fire.

Taylor H I know I'm preaching to the choir in thisinstance. I've used a wh=
=3D
ite raku glaze (TAK)for about 30 yrs. One of Kurt Wild's UWRFstudents is c=
=3D
redited for this glaze. His initials TAK.I fire raku by sight in a round f=
=3D
iber kiln 2'X2'....weed burner & propane. TAK works best=3D2C for me=3D2C =
on w=3D
hite stoneware bisqued to > 06. Clay w/ iron will also work=3D2C however=
=3D2Ci=3D
n this case a coat or two of white slip over the green ware will eliminate =
=3D
any pinkish/iron blushon the finished surface. When the glaze starts to ma=
=3D
ture=3D2C I either pull the burner back from the port...cut back on fuel=
=3D2C =3D
or both. Thiswill allow the glaze to flatten into a nice smoothglossy surf=
=3D
ace. One has to tinker with the technique.TAK is very stable glaze...tape=
=3D
=3D2C wax=3D3B etc...whenapplied before glazing will retain the finest of d=
etai=3D
ls.I pour two coats glaze on the front of plates and platters leaving the b=
=3D
ack side unglazed with chatter design. Glazing the backs of platters and s=
=3D
hallow bowls makes for toughcleaning after reduction. Insides of tall vert=
=3D
ical shapes are also unglazed. Clean with scouring pad and ajax...rinse we=
=3D
ll.Once again...when glaze has melted and pinholes and bubbles appear on su=
=3D
rface...turn the gas down. Justlike boiling water. Love that white raku..=
=3D

It is a contraction of his name:

Tak Fat White Raku Glaze
Comments: A Kurt Wild glaze, it came from a student named Takahara.

Fat white, big crackle
Give it time to cool just a second/deep reduction

frit 3134 100
silica 6
epk 10

tin or opax 10 If you want a clear leave this out. Bentonite will
help suspend it.

Takes copper well: blue/green to red/blood .
