The Kiln Guy on tue 27 jan 98
Hello Michelle,
I gave a copy of your e-mail to our senior kiln builder/repairman, who has
25-30 years experience - alot of gas. He has some notes for you:
-5/16" orifice is too big for air available.
-bagwall should be solid.
-there should be a target brick.
-the bricks could be blocking the flame pattern if flue is under shelves.
-there problably was too much gas going in - & no reduction atmosphere.
Keep in mind that the number of burners, size of burners & BTU rating are
not known.
Excessive orifice size change may be too much for primary and secondary air
volume & flue capacity.
Suggest solid bag walls.
If flue channel is under bottom shelves - there must be gaps at least
equivalent to the flue opening.
Space gaps to draw more flame down through area of kiln needing more heat.
Let me know how else I can help.
