Hello Mr. Mayor!

Seems like usually at NCECA the Clayart Room is in a hotel at which you the=
n
arrange a lovely price for us for rooms. Since the Clayart Room will be at
the convention center, wondering if there is a hotel you are working with t=
o
secure a block of rooms. I know this is a megaton of work and very risky
and am looking for any information you might have regarding a hotel in
Seattle with which you are negotiating.

Thanks so much.

Vicki,
Mr. Mayor is out of the hotel business.
Mel was (still is) so very kind and generous to secure a hotel for Clayart
with his personal credit card.
Every year he would have to endure a beating with a 2x4 by Mrs. Mayor of
doing this.
Sometimes he was able to get repayment from a secret stash, other times he
was burned, paid outta pocket.

Last year was the first time the NCECA board and Clayart were able to
arrange a meeting room in the convention center. A meeting with the board
has brought the two groups closer together.

I would imagine, as we did last year with the shot glass exchange, a large
group of Clayarters will gather in the NCECA hotel bar.

Can any of our Seattle-area folks recommend a

Seattle Warwick Hotel might be a good option too. I found rates at
about $100 per night for a double. it's closer to Pike Street Market
and the water, a bit of a hoof to the convention center, but not too
bad if you like to walk.

One great thing about Seattle is that we have free bus service
downtown. That's from the waterfront to I-5 and from Yesler Way north
to Virginia St. There are also some motels near Seattle Center that
might be cheaper, and it's an easy bus or monorail ride from Seattle
Center, although not free.

Seattle has a GREAT hostel...right next door to the Pike St. Market.
Have fun. I'm jealous!
