Women also brought wolf pups into our caves. Neanderthal had neither
dogs/wolves or the mastery of fire (they occasionally used fire, but
bone analysis shows that they didn't use it for cooking.) Both helped
us out compete Neanderthal (though we do carry Neanderthal genes.)

Dogs influenced human development. They may be more
important for us in our change from Apes to Human than fire was.

Meat-eating and animal domestication separated humans from other apes.

Taking in animals is uniquely human and seems counterproductive at first.

Hunting and caring for animals drove the development of technology and
languages.
