Hi List,
When I send from my aka smart phone, I know it gets through the server with=
a reply back "submitted to moderator yadda yadda" but never on general di=
stribution. This has happened a couple of times. Well, perhaps it gets filt=
ered through and deemed useless. So I access list through the pc.
However, once again. Does anyone have a recipe for gold paste which was/is =
used to repair antique Asian ceramics. Is it a relative of traditional Jap=
anese lacquer ware formulas? It seems to have a goodly content of some type=
of glue. No need to forward recipes with horn or hoof shavings boiled down=
to a niffy muck, as no one around me hunts any more...unless a SMALL pack =
of said items can be sent, and I'll send you something pretty in return as =
a thankyou. So, looking for a more 21C recipe. I made something similar bef=
ore using a thickened solution of real lacquer, two step araldite and gold =
leaf. Just wondering. Final thought, rabbit skin glue?
Also, regarding all those interesting posts on gold leaf and alternatives, =
I think that the original poster said that the base was rounded and support=
ing it for one reason or another was very tricksy in order to achieve the g=
old effects on the rim. And I may be wrong, but there is factual evidence t=
hat Lucie Rie fired at 1250d centigrade in an electric kiln. I'd be ever so=
interested in any research that has confirmed that work had been fired in =
a reduction atmosphere. That manganese gold recipe she used has a wide firi=
ng range and can be found in issue 175 of Ceramic Review along with about 4=
other recipes. I like Colin Pearson's recipe and have used it for many yea=
rs. It is not food safe. I've posted this info before, unless it went to Ce=
ramic Arts Daily Forums. I've been just suborned to the PC and happy to ini=
tiate any member based initiatives
