art, metaphor, statement, function, and finding my way

I've been fortunate; I've had good clay teachers. Not only did they
teach, they let me do it myself, find my way, and try out ideas.

I've learned:
- Big is not easy - but it sure is fun.
- I like the engineering aspect as much as creating.
- What if I... can yield great results or crappy results (^6
reduction is great, ^04 reduction sucks)
- I'm allergic to the wheel and I love hand building.
- I'd still like to try making a bathroom sink.
- I can get rid of a lot of bad ideas by sketching them.
- Some of what I make comes from deep within me - and maybe the
piece only means something to me. That there is no monetary value to
this does not mean it has no value.

Okay... that's about the extent of ideological function I can have
before I finish my happy good morning to me cup of tea held in a hand
made mug which always makes me think about the person who made it.
