The link Logan posted for Pike's market is great. I've put the list in my
NCECA folder. Now I would like some advice for a very special dinner. My
birthday always occurs during NCECA and John and I pick out a special place
for dinner. In Tampa it was Stonefish Grill, in Philly it was Buddhakan in
Phoenix we found a great creative Mexican place. I like exotic, John not s=
o
much but this is my birthday so he puts up with the exotic. In Seattle
obviously the choice will be seafood. We won't have a car so can't go to
Bellingham :). Any suggestions.

I would put in my vote for Wild Ginger. It's right near the Seattle Art M=

Pike place Market

Pike Place Market is the one tourist thing in Seattle you should not
miss. It's one of the great public markets of the US. It's just full
of amazing produce and other food. Of course the real tourist
highlight is watching the fish vendors throwing whole salmon back and
forth. By the time of NCECA, there will also probably be lots of
flower vendors there. Saturday afternoon would be a really good time
to go there. There are lots more farmers and LOTS more craftspeople
on the day tables on Saturday than on any other day. THe Market is
not to be missed. It's a relatively easy walk from the Convention
Center, and it's flat that way.

One other thing you should know about Seattle restaurants. We here
are VERY into Happy Hour. The hours vary with different restaurants,
but often you can get a good meal for under $10 and drinks are usually
cheap too. The $5 hamburger at Metropolitan Grill is an amazing
value. Some restaurants only offer bar-snack kinds of food at Happy
Hour, others offer smaller versions of the regular menu. Actually,
they're often just about the right amount of food, since so many
restaurants these days give you such enormous portions.
