A Clayart tip Ive been using for years was to use 35 mesh Kyanite to
prevent plucking has been very successful.
However I don't have access to the 35 mesh right now but do have some 48
mesh which is quite powdery and don't want to put that on my kiln shelving.
I'm wondering if it would work as well if I add it to my wax resist. I
could apply the wax resist and roll the foot in the powder which works well
with the 35 mesh. I'm thinking that because it's so fine it might not work
as well as 35 mesh which if I recall correctly was described as acting like
ball bearings.
Any opinions/suggestions?

Hi Gayle,
I think it will work just fine - powdered alumin hydrate works
perfectly when mixed with wax and it's much finer.
If you do mix the finer kyanite with wax keep it away from the glaze -
by adding a small amount to just the bottom of the foot.
