Just a thought but this sounds kinda like to much gas, the hottest part of
the flame is the tip, which for you seems to be down toward the bottom of
your kiln. Could also be too much reduction at the top which would hold bac=
k
temp increase. Like a welding torch no oxygen-long lazy yellow flame, give
it some oxygen short hot blue flame. If you have an oxy probe or could
barrow one for a firing you could move it from top to bottom and check
things out, might give you some clues. Good Luck!
