A friend has a Cuisinart 6-1/2 Qt. Programmable Slow Cooker and cracked the
ceramic insert. Is there a way to repair the crack or should we make
another one out of a flameware type clay? We have only worked with cone 10
clay and glazes so this is a learning experience.

Larry I wouldn't look to repair anything to be used with food. I think flam=

ware is overkill and if you think you could make one with the cone 10 clay
you use and a food safe glaze go for it. It is electric heat so it shouldn'=

fit well so it has contact with the metal outsides for good heat transfer t=

helps retain heat, possibly a more uniform heating. Just some thoughts. Goo=

A friend suggested I needed to clarify my message and I agree. An addendum
to my message When saying the risk is low because it was electric I should
have said low temp electric. I would not recommend putting pottery on a
heating coil, on a stove Too much temperature difference which is the real
issue. With the crock pot it is usually put in, started cold and the heat
surrounds much of the exterior, ideal for pottery...Liz Gowen
