I am half way through "The Japanese," by Jack Seward. It was published
in 1971, so it may be outdated. I have laughed out loud through some of
it. The history behind the Japanese written language is pretty interesting.

Has anyone on Clayart read the book? What are your favorite books on
Japanese culture?

Thanks,

Sincerely,

Another very interesting book is: "The Japanese have a word for it" by Boye
Lafayette De Mente. He calls it a complete guide to Japanese Thought and
Culture. He examines the underlying meaning of more than 200 key words and
expressions in learning about the way Japanese society works. So, all short
chapters and very relaxing to read.
