Lenny,
Be careful what your pets are eating/drinking. Unfortunately I had a pet =
=3D
cat
with the same love of drinking the rinse water and he developed renal
failure and died at a young age. Many chemicals that can be
detrimental/fatal are also desirable to animals--a prime example is
antifreeze.

Cats do have the strangest attractions to odors/tastes.
A tabby & Siamese we had for 18 & 20 years were attracted to various
things.
Whenever we put onions in a hot skillet, the Siamese would come running
and do an onion dance/squirm on the kitchen floor. She also went crazy
over the smell of bleach. Anytime we sanitized the bathroom, we'd have to
close her in another room, do the clean up, do a good rinse, then on
release she would run to the bath tub and just squirm around like she was
drugged.
The boy tabby loved to lick magazine covers - could never leave a magazine
out.
Both of them were always indoors cats.
The one we have now adopted us, was an outdoor/indoor cat for a few years.
She doesn't do much weird stuff, but she knows what she's not supposed to
do and will do one of those things when she wants our attention.

My cats like the dirty water bowl I use to water the plants with. Or
even the small pond outside.

I have one cat that loves potato peelings ... I have no idea why. She
might get one or two a month. Although they're nightshades, I figure a
couple of potato peelings isn't going to kill her, even over the long
term. I asked the vet about it, her basic answer was ... she's an
outdoor cat ... who knows what she's eating elsewhere, don't sweat it.
Lizards, and frogs for sure. I hear her crunching bones quite a lot in
the spring and summer.

Water with clay and base glazes in it aren't likely to damage your
cat, nor iron etc.

But, just like with humans, if you use glazes with Manganese in it try
and keep that away from cats. Maybe copper too.

Better question for the ages would be, "Why take safety cues from a stupid =
cat?"

Along with this, many 'pets' end up having slow degenerative diseases
brought about by the actual contents and toxins/contaminants of pet-foods,
and, of lack of proper Nutrition generally, regardless of what the pet food
labels claim.

This then also is a huge source of revenue for the Veterinarians, especiall=
y
as the 'pets' get older, and, all this finally starts catching up with them=
.

Same holds true with people-children, which technically are 'pets' in our
Society, if on a shorter time line as well as on the longer one. The foods
or the diet they are provided or have access to, on all fronts, ensures
autoimmune problems and slow degenerative disease, and, this is big revenue
for the 'healthcareindustry' and insuranceindustry.

Just about everyone I have known over the last couple decades who had
people-babys or very young through school-age people children, were
constantly bringing their children to the doctor for endless Stomach
problems, Ear infections, Sinus infections, Kidney infections, Liver
problems, Bowel troubles, Nervous disorders, fevers, on and endlessly on.

Not so good...

And, of course, those parents would not, can not, shall not EVER seek nor
accept employment anywhere, nor re-marry for a new Spouce, unless 'Health
Care' Insurance is provided for their offspring as part of the package sinc=
e
none of them can afford to provide it themselves.

Of course they 'believe' in 'healthcare'...

Etc...

Good one Phil! The diet/nutrition scene is hugely important.

How much of that is caused by the current need to sterilize
everything and pretty much wrap kids in bubble wrap ? ( heavily
sprayed with an antibacterial first, of course. ) Who has a chance
to develop an immunity to anything when they arent exposed to
anything? Heck, as a kid, we ate plenty of dirt ... 6 second rule
.... Nowadays , everything is a disease with a bottle of pills
included... Can't sit still for 2 seconds? have a pill...
As for Phil's comment that "Doctors and Vets are generally
corrupt, disingenuous, cynical, indifferent,"...........WOW ! Glad I
dont live where you do ! I must live a charmed life because I have a
great gp ( a woman ) who takes the time to explain things to me ,
also got a great kidney guy... and as for vets, ours repaired a
crushed leg on a chihuahua that we found ( and still have ) at no
cost to us after he knew we couldnt afford to fix both of the dog's
broken back legs.
