new web-site, with glaze tests

Well, one more site to drop into the www. (If it could be mapped, must look
like the work of a seriously impaired spider by now) The URL is
http://www.island.net/~shelford/

If you have the time and interest to check it out, I'll appreciate any
comments, and especially if anyone has difficulties of any kind with it. I
am more grateful than I can say for the kind folks who have tested it for me
initially. I think I've got rid of the worst of the problems they encountered.

To revert to the scanner/digital camera thread for a moment - all the
pictures were done on a low-price Mustek 1200 III EP scanner, EXCEPT the
pictures of the glaze tests, which were taken with a neighbour's digital
camera (a little kodak DC-20 - also a very low-end model). I'll be
interested to hear any comparisons of picture quality - it all looks pretty
good and moves pretty quickly on my system, but I think that's normal - your
own system will tend to present the optimal effect.

And to all those who were interested in the ^6 glaze tests I blathered on
about a while ago, they are the ones reprinted with photos on the "glaze
test" page. I hope to keep this page moving, and REALLY hope that
eventually some others who have the equipment may do the same - I think it
adds a huge amount to glaze discussions to be able to see them. It's asking
a bit much to take whole rolls of film in this endeavour, but I really
recommend scouring the neighbourhood for friendly people who will lend their
digital cameras occasionally.

And to those who have occasionally asked where the heck Thetis Island is,
there are some pictures of that too.

And of course, pots.
