Join us in this two day demonstration workshop with well known functional p=
=3D
otter Robert Briscoe as he shares his techniques for wheel throwing and wet=
=3D
altering. Robert will go through an impressive amount of clay on the wheel=
=3D
showing his process of assembling pots to express and reflect the 'subtlet=
=3D
y and nuance' of his aesthetic.

He will also engage participants in a variety of discussion topics:


* How we search for a voice in our work
* Making a sustainable living as a potter
* The relevance of functional pottery in a modern world
* Can simplicity in pottery stand out in a noisy world?
* Organizing working days and work cycles

He will also address methods of articulating quiet ceramic forms using slip=
=3D
s and under glazes to create powerful yet peaceful surfaces that unify his =
=3D
pieces.


Robert Briscoe lives in rural Harris, Minnesota and has been a potter for o=
=3D
ver 40 years making functional stoneware.
His work is collected throughout North America. Selected collections inclu=
=3D
de the Weisman Museum of Art, Minneapolis MN, the Renwick Gallery at the Sm=
=3D
ithsonian Institution at, Washington DC to name a few He has exhibited in =
=3D
numerous one-person shows, group exhibitions, and at art festivals such as =
=3D
the Smithsonian Craft Fair, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, the Philadelphi=
=3D
a Craft Fair, as well as the Washington Craft Show. His work has been featu=
