dichroic copper foil samples from 2011 nceca

Last year at NCECA I gave out samples of metallic dichroic on copper
foil. Has anyone had a chance to flake the dichroic onto wet glaze and
fire it? I don't think it will survive a cone 10 firing, but I wonder
how it turns out at lower temperatures.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Arnold,
Think I wrote to you previously, but just in case.
Tried the flakes on cone 6 crystalline glaze - all gone, too much heat
work.
Still have some will try in a "normal" cone 6 firing.

Arnold, I finally got around to trying the dichroic flakes in the past mo=

nth.
A customer had asked for an "especially sparkly" effect, so I thought it
would be worth the experiment.

The flakes had some difficulty staying on the glaze, even when applied=
=3D
=3D20
while it was wet. I found that a swipe with a glue stick on the test tile=
=3D

surface before glazing stuck them down nicely, though.

One test tile got dichroic flakes under a colored translucent glaze,
another had flakes under clear glaze, and a third got flakes over an
already glazed/fired surface. All were then fired to 2180=3DB0F.

The flakes applied on top of fired glaze were indeed sparkly flter refiri=

ng,
but their surface was pretty rough.
Flakes with glaze over them pretty much disappeared at cone 5-1/2, but ar=

e=3D20
faintly
visible after firing. I'd say more experimentation is necessary.=3D20

Thanks for the opportunity to try something new.
