Cindy,
Someone familiar with basic AC electrical circuits could convert a Brent foot
peddle to hand operation with a rotary control. The Brent design uses a
linear ( sliding) resistor and this could be replaced. Or, come to think of
it, the existing resistor could probably be used and converted to a hand
operated, sliding control similar in operation to some volume controls on
audio receivers.
