bailey mixer/puggers

I'm looking to simplify the clay mixing/pugging process
and have become interested in the Bailey double-auger
MXP mixer/pugger machines. I'm wondering if anyone
has experience with the Bailey MXP 70T mixer/pugger?
It has a 2 HP pug motor and a 3/4 HP vacuum pump,
and is supposed to be able to recycle even dry chunks of scrap
into deaired clay in about 20 minutes.
What are peoples experience of these machines?

I have a single auger Bailey mixer/pugger, not de-airing, probably =3D
smaller than the one you mention, and it's GREAT! Yes, indeedy, dry =3D
chunks of scrap into clay in about 20 minutes.

Dear David Beumee,

Though I have no experience with the machinery you intend using I would
dearly love to know the analysis of the exhaust from the vacuum pump.

If you ever find out, please relay the information to me.

Sincerely,

it is mostly water and oil, or just water if you are using an oilless
pump. it doesn't pull a hard vacuum, but sure does try to.

Dear Jonathan Byler ,

Thank you for that information.

Are you observing a stream of oily water issuing from the pump? Have you
thought about passing the gas stream through a wash bottle containing Lime
Water to check for Carbon dioxide.

Sincere regards,

Ivor

it is not a stream so much as vapor/mist. a lot of it gets caught in
the exhaust fiter. why would you worry about carbon dioxide coming out?

Dear jonathan byler,
Evidence of bacterial activity. After all, there are claims that this
improves clay workability but evidence is never produced. A white
precipitate forming from VDA clay exhaust in the Lime Water would be a good
indication.
