Many Clayarters have e-mailed me for this formula (blue-green celadon that
crackles over some clays, but not on others),so here it is:

Nepheline Syenite 42.0
Silica 27.0
Whiting 19.0
Kaolin (Florida called for,
but I use EPK) 10.1
Red Iron Oxide 1.9

Add:CMC 1 tsp.

Fire to cone 10 in moderate reduction.
A light blue-green transparent gloss

This formula was found in "The Potter's Complete Book of Clay and Glazes"
by James Chappell. Watson-Guptill Publications. New York

Ivor,

I believe that I mentioned several times that it was from Leach's book.
It is adapted to American materials and altered slightly to give a
wider firing range but mainly to mature at Cone 10 Orton. We happen to
call it Leach's clear, or Celadon, or pale blue, or Dark Blue depending
on the colorants added.

I never intended it to be known as anything else, I believe in giving
credit where credit is due.

Rick, Off to fire an Anagama for the next week, finished loading
today.

Dear Richard Mahaffey,
I have no quarrel with you over this. Somewhere along the way I missed
your point about its origin.
Best regards,
Ivor.
