I've tried 3 search engines and have not been able to find any potters
near Hemet, Ca.
Oh, for the good ol' days when Google was the "pure" search engine...
Anyhoo,
Since a dear old friend passed last year I have become close (via
Facebook) to his teenage daughter.
She's a typical teen in many ways, but also a little angry on the one
hand and really strong and determined on the other.
She's taking a high school ceramics class and is expressing interest in
learning more.
Her family does not have much money (especially now Paul's gone) but I
explained that if she is determined and focused, there are "ways", and
that people around the world make lovely pots and whatnot without
electricity let alone fancy studios.
I've just ordered her a book I think might spark something in her.
There's a paint-a-Pot type place that she knows of, but I was looking
for some studio potters in her area that she might - if she is serious -
find helpful.
Perhaps someone who might fire a piece for a reasonable price or in
exchange for some studio flunky help. Or might just give her some ideas
of what's possible.
Anyone in that neck of the woods? Not looking for volunteers actually. I
thought I would give her a few web sites for local potters and suggest
she contact them. I figure if she's interested enough to take the
initiative, maybe she's determined.
Thanks folks...
