Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or a recipe for =3D
mixing wax with black slip or stain to=3D20
trail on bisque pots. Before I make a mistake, I thought I'd ask. The =3D
wax we have seems very runny.=3D20
Thanks All, Gina Mars
Wed it will feel like 105 degrees on Huntington NY.

There's a product out just like that. I think it is called Waxline. Axner
(Laguna) carries it.

I remember when it was sold to Axner. I think it was called Glazeline.
It works really, really well. A dense very black line, and matte. Very
nice. Designed to use as a barrier so that glaze colors can be used
next to each other without running, primarily for tiles. Can be
silk-screened. Came in other colors too.

Gina...

I did that a long time ago, when I was playing with cuerda seca. I mixed a
bit of black iron oxide, manganese, cobalt, and copper (and maybe some
chrome), plus a touch of Gerstley Borate, into the green wax resist (can't
recall the brand right now, and I no longer use that wax). Worked just
fine. The proportions aren't terribly important, and it's not rocket
science. I think Michelman's wax might work better than the green stuff,
as it is much more viscous. Also tried the Aftosa black wax. It worked ok
too. It was a little runnier than I would have liked, and also fired a bit
on the grey side rather than true black.

Good luck.
