drying big pieces

it is always a challenge.
often people leave big pieces out and they
collect water in the summer. get wetter.

when doing big pieces with kids at school i would
stick them behind the kiln for a few days, then
i would carefully place them on the kiln for a firing.
(you may have to span the kiln top with a few pieces of light
angle iron to distribute the weight a bit...but, that would be
for really big pieces.

i would fire the kiln with one coil on low overnight, then
fire slow during the day. i mean like all day.
(i do that normally.)

i have one tiny burner attached to my big kiln.
if i was going to bisque with gas i would turn on that
tiny burner overnight. and go realllllly slow.
gas is tough to use for bisque if you are in a hurry.
