A two-day weekend workshop with trompe l'oeil artist Eric Serritella =3D
will combine instructor demonstration and student hands-on participation =
=3D
to create birch bark from clay. Eric will share a wealth of clay =3D
techniques to make realistic bark baskets and vessels. Each student will =
=3D
try the techniques on small pieces to keep. The students will learn how =3D
to create large slabs without the use of a slab roller, how to handle, =3D
assemble, and use templates for making projects from slabs, and how to =3D
mixing and use of slips and ceramic stains for visual accents that mimic =
=3D
the look of birch bark and leather straps.
