Hi Eleanor,=3D0A=3D0AI have had some success with Spectrum glazes (from Can=

in that range. They have a 1500 series for dipping and an 1100 series for =

brushing. They layer well creating great colors. I do have a 30 minute soak=

Some, probably most, of the glaze suppliers have test sets. I know Georgie=
s
will send samples sizes of 6 or more glazes. Aardvark does the same. Pick
the glazes you want to test and they will send you small samples. They als=
o
have images of their glazes layered and suggestions for layering. I have
found two glazes from The Ceramic Store that I order as powder. They will
put as much as will fit in a USPS Priority Flat Rate box which saves me a
lot of shipping money. So far my experience with commercial glazes is that
they look best when applied fairly thick and seem to be formulated so as no=
t
to run. When I tried laguna glazes they were all labeled as cone 5 glazes
and the color often burned out at cone 6.
I do continue to formulate my one crystalline glazes. That is enough glaze
mixing for me and I can afford commercial glazes for the small amount of
work that I do.
