You can fire it without stilts. It may stain your kiln shelves but it
it will not stick to them like a glaze will.
I have used Amaco black underglaze to mark the bottoms of test tiles.

Depends on the cone. Above ^4, you need to test=3D20
each color separately, as the results vary a lot.=3D20
Some go quite high without getting sticky, while=3D20
some turn into glazes.

I have used Amaco black underglaze to mark the bottoms of test tiles.
In my experience, the black does stick to the kiln shelf at cone 6.

All the Velvets will melt at some point, but different temps for different =
colors. AMACO seems to like to twitch their products every once in a while.=
About 15-20 years ago I found a set of colors that stayed dry at cone 3 an=
d used them in my Color & Line workshops. A few years ago I taught that wor=
kshop and found one of the colors started to flux at cone 3 and am in the p=
rocess of forming another set that will stay dry. All the Velvets will all =
stay dry at c/05, their intended firing range, but you should test the colo=
rs you plan to use at higher temps... -Rimas
