need clay body

Dear Group,
As my luck would have it (again) the clay I was using will become
unavailable because my supplier doesn't want to carry it. Minnesota #7
Does anyone use a white earthenware clay with 80-90 mesh sand that they buy
commercially?
In the New Mexico area, the suppliers only want to carry Laguna or locally
make very tight earthenware bodies for burnishing and such. I don't use
enough to have clay custom made (about 1800 lbs per year). I am sort of
frustrated. I hate to use laguna Bmix with sand (cone 10) and send out
only bisque fired clay. The Laguna Bmix 5 cracks with my forms. I fire to
only cone 05. I love the dillo white that is made in Texas but it is hard
to get a truck up here and again it is a cone 10 clay. Any suggestions?

Don:

I don't have my catalog with me right now, but you might want to contact
Mile Hi Ceramics in Denver. They have a claybody called Dover that you can
get with "sand" as they call it. I'm not sure of firing range, but I think
it is available as a lowfire clay. Denver may be too far and I'm not sure
about their delivery setup to New Mexico (probably via UPS hundredweight),
but it might be worth a call. The folks there are usually pretty helpful.

Highwater Clay has a new "Orange Stone" clay body. The firing range might
be a little high though 6-10. If you need more information, please feel
free to call Carol @ Florida Clay Art Co. 1-800-211-7713 I just so happen
to be a Highwater Clay distributor.
