Mel: Here is my goofey system of getting angle iron for kiln frames, braces
for the stack and grates for the firebox.
Everytime I take a pickup load to the dump I take Angus the guy that works
there some goodies to supplement his wage. I take copper wire, pop
bottles that have a refund deposit, bits of aluminum, Almost anything I
was going to throw out but I know Angus would want. then when I have a
kiln project I ask him if he has any bed rails (the ones that hold up the
box spring). He saves them at his house ( you should see the place- worth
the visit to Canada). He sells them to most people for $1 a piece but I'm
his buddy so I get them for 50cents if I need quite a few and free if its
only a couple. If you price a 6 or 8 foot piece of angle iron at the
welding shop this is quite a deal. I used them for the grates of our wood
kiln and painted them with ITC 213 and they are working fine. Goofey eh!
If I think Minnesota is pickin' on me I'm going after him with the same
weapon our troops are taking to Iraq- THE MIGHTY SNOWBALL!
Where does the lone ranger go for kiln supplies? ta da dump, ta da dump, ta
da dump, dump, dump.
Cheers,
tony
