I am interested in finding information about pottery workshops that are
available this summer. I have information on Haystack, Penland, Arrowmont,
Peter's Valley, Anderson Ranch, and Sierra Nevada College. Are there other
similar art/craft schools in the US/Canada/Europe that any of you have
attended? Please send any information you might have. Thank you.

>Judy,
I can highly recommend Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts
held at Pearson college in Metchosin, just outside victoria B.C. Robin
Hopper is the driving force behind this summer school. It runs for two weeks
and includes one and two week courses as well as weekend workshops. for more
information contact:
Meira Mathison at admin@pearson-college.uwc.ca
The amazing thing that always happens at "MISSA" is the magical synergy that
makes it a very special time.
Last summer I took a one week glaze workshop from Mike Bailey at Bath
Potters Supplies, learned a lot and had a wonderful time. The folks there
are lovely and on top of that they provide field trips and amazing gourmet
lunches! Drop a line to Steve Mills at stevemills@bathpotters.demon.co.uk
to find out what they have in mind for this year.
Another good place for summer art courses including pottery is Red Deer
College in Red Deer, Alberta. Unfortunately I don't have an address for it
at present. They probably have a web site.
I hope you have a great time.

Judy,
Don't want to seem too self serving but we hold a series of
workshops each summer. Our web site has a full listing with lots of
photos and discriptions.
We do three different topics.
"Experiencing The Fire" , a four day workshop where participants
fire a two chambered Norborigama, we salt the second chamber. We do a
full day of Raku firings, while the wood kiln is cooling and sawdust and
pit firings each night. Participants bring bisqueware for all the
techniques.
"Throwing Giant Pots", a three day workshop on methods for
making large pots without alot of strength. We do coil a throw
technique as well as a thrown and assembled method. By using heat, a
raku type burner, on the pots as it is thrown, most anyone can make big
pots pretty quick and thin.
"Altering Thrown Forms" is a three day workshop, which does just
what it says.
Without getting long winded check our out web site, we just got
it up last month, and if you want a brochure, send me you s-mail
address.
