I prefer to use cobalt carbonate because I have found that the oxide
causes little streaks of dark, dark blue in the glaze.
Cobalt oxide is what I have to work with at present so I would like
to know if anyone else has had this streaking problem and if there is
a way of dealing with it.

I also have experienced streaking with cobalt oxide. A friend told me
that sieving the glaze will eliminate the streaks. I happen to like the
streaks, so I haven't bothered to try it.
Good luck.

Toni:
I have found that putting the glaze through a 100-120 mesh sieve will
correct that problem.

There's been quite a bit on this before, but glazes with cobalt
oxide have to be sieved, in my experience, with a fine sieve,
or specks and streaks will be there.

Toni,
I *like* streaks, but I believe that sieving your glaze will help. Or maybe
it would be easier for you to simply mix the oxide with warm/hot water and
sieve it alone, several times. Letting it rest a few days and sieving again
may be worth trying, too.
