Ok.... I've read all the post about the wholesale shows and the sleekness of
the ACC shows and my delimeia is this: I am a one person shop. I do NO
production work..and CRINGE at the idea of taking orders for something that
may or may NOT come out looking right after 3-4 firings. All of my piecies
are ONE of a kind, functional, lowfire , serving and dinnerware pieces. All
either handbuilt or thrown and altered and many hours go into the decoration
and designs. Neither the ACC or the ROSEN show are a good fit for me or (
i'm guessing) alot of folks out there. I've been told the Washington DC Craft
Show , and Philadelphia Museum Show are better options, but have also heard
that the " who you know" politics play a big part in getting in. Why doesn't
Rosen offer a strictly retail show ? If they can offer their services to the "
big" pottery operations....how about sponsoring something for the " little"
guy and provide a venue for "little guys on there way to getting bigger."
And Wendy, please don't tell me to try Sugarloaf or Nat'l Crafts. I no
more want to sit in a barn with my pottery for sale than the man in the moon
!. Is there room in your Philly show for retail only folks?
People who don't come with " catologs". Thanks Brian in Philly

I'm not sure how far you want to travel but there is a very nice juried
show at St. Louis, MO over Mother's Day weekend at the sculpture park. It
is an outdoor show, but very well done. Great Fine Art. Great variety.
and Good intertainment during the show. If anyone is interested I'll look
up more info on it. I just graduated in December and plan to work on a
body of self-directed work for next year. I look forward to the
unrestricted creativity of the next year. You all know how difficult it
is to be individual within the confines of classroom directives.

IMHO there are more than enough retail shows. And no, your alternative to
wholesale is not to sit in a barn. There are many indoor quality retail shows.
Rosen specializes in wholesale and does a good job. I hope she doesn't branch
out.
