If it is the FRED OLSEN I know about, he lives in Palm
Springs, USA (I believe). He wrote the famous "Kiln
Book"... Talked to him in Aberystwyth this summer, when
he fired his amazing kiln with the 2.8 METER HIGH pot
Dainis Pundurs (Latvia) threw the last festival in
1999. (How it kept undamaged for two years on a
building site in a university campus is a minor
miracle!)

He gave a lecture on his experiences as a kiln
developer, but I did not see that. He was apprenticed
to Tomimoto Kenkichi in Japan, 1961 where he worked
along side Kondo Yuzo and Koyama, making pots and
firing kilns. Since then he has been a potter and kiln
designer, conducting kiln building workshops throughout
the US, Australia, Europe and Japan...

Olsen designs and sells kiln kits "at home" and is
still a potter too... Sorry, got no contact information
or details, but maybe there is someone in Palm Springs
who could help?

Actually, Fred Olson lives in the mountains between Palm Springs and Idylwild
,off Palms to Pines hwy. 74, around 2-3,000 ft. elevation. Pretty sure the
area is called Mountain Center or such.
In any case I think he can be contacted via the information in his newly
reissued Kiln book.
Thing is, Fred is quite often out of town and out of the country. Far as I
know he does not have , or at least give out, an email address.
