the thing about seconds, overfired, refires. flaws...your customers
rarely know, and often just `love` them.

but what happens when a really good potter walks
into your studio, someone you really like and respect?

what goes through your mind when you have pots out that
have wierd stuff on the glaze...flaws, and that potter picks
them up....turns them over...mullls and grunts.?

i hate that feeling of my face turning red, and the stumble
in my speech as i try to explain why that pot is on the shelf.

it is fun to go around the country though, go to pottery shows...talk
to people......and have potters tell me that crawling and shivering
are special effects that `they` have developed....secrets....
bullshit.
don't do it.
break those suckers...and quick...and make the pieces small.

lil's `old` pal mel

p.s. you know, in that photo of dannon rhudy in cm....you can
hardly tell that she has `very` red hair.
and don't forget to send joe some slides.....
and the worthington called me yesterday....and they will
\provide glasses, and ice for the clayart room...so think now
about bringing some sort of liquid treat with you.
(it is hard to get booze in texas...not on every corner like lasvegas.)
and damn, i think i got a couple of nice mugs from the last firing.
could you imagine bringing things with flaws for the mug trade.
phewwwey.
