Thank you to all who are so helpful.
I have two questions
Has anyone done color testing on the base of the following glaze.
reitz green matt
70 neph sy
5 whiting
2 gerstley borate
15 petalite
8 clay
plus 1 cobalt carb and 1 rutile
The first time I fired this it was a gorgeous blue. In subsequent firings
which were probably more reduced it was very green.
My second question has to do with glaze falling off the outside walls of
large wide porcelain bowls with narrow feet. somewhat v shaped. but
bowlier. I usually wash my bisque ware and wait till it is bone dry before
I glaze. I've noticed a yellow stain on the ware after washing. I live in
northwestern New Jersey and our water is very hard. Maybe I shouldnt wash
the pots but the porcelain comes out of the bisque feelling pretty dusty.
any suggestions would be welcome. thank you.
