RE kitchen appliances: My rule of thumb is that whatever kitchen
appliances I use in the studio remain in the studio. I've purchased
used blenders, etc. through Goodwill Stores locally and they are
'studio only' appliances. Personally, once I borrow a utensil from my
kitchen to use in the studio, it stays in the studio, and a new one is
purchased for the kitchen. Just food for thought....
It is funny how many of my favorite clay tools do come from the kitchen. I use
a strainer to keep my tools in, wear a great long chef's apron, use a cheese-
grater to cut edges. I use a small hand-held blender for small amounts of
slip and glaze, a blender for slightly larger amounts etc. etc. Since my
studio is miles from my kitchen- they never wind up back there. I guess that
is one advantage of having the studio seperate from the home. :)
