magnesium silicate???

Does anyone know if this is some form of Talc?? I ordered a bag for school and
this stuff came. It was marked with pen "Talc". I just dont know.. Thanks!

You indeed have talc in the bag you just ordered. The formula for this is
Mgo -1.33 SiO2. This simply means that you have 1.33 molecules of SiO2 to
every molecule of MgO. Talc is also called steatite.

Some one may question this but. It would seem to me that if they call it
magnesium silicate, that it must be calcined (fired),otherwise the magnesium
and silicate would not be bonded.
