We'll be ITCing our electric and gas kilns in the next week or two. Put
it off because of El Nino, but also wanted to read and absorb more info
from Clayarters. Thanks to the latest thread, and with Alice's generous
assistance, we will be ready soon. My only concern now is that we'll
spray too thickly. (I'm using the term "we" rather loosely here. I'd
have to spray 5 kilns before the 6th would then be acceptable. That's
the way new forms in clay go for me, too.) More importantly, I think, is
that Geil kiln company is building us a new fiber gas kiln intended for
soda/salt firing. The plan as of now is for the company to apply ITC as
part of the completion process. Sounds like a winner. Also, when we
attended Nils Lou's kiln building workshop at Lynn and Robert Rank's,
Nils sprayed ITC on their brick car kiln as we built it. I've heard of
other pros, also, who use ITC on their new kilns, but I don't feel free
to mention specifics since I was neither an observer nor a customer.
Can't wait to start soda/salting, and hope that I'm beginning to wind
down on purchases for the studio (which didn't exist 2 1/2 years ago!),
purchases which have mostly been recommended by Clayarters. My #1
Support Person also will be most grateful if I'll begin mellowing out
about clay just a little bit. He's looking forward to getting back to
his woodworking finally and going out of the fulltime Support Person
business. Anybody know of friendly woodworking lists or do only potters
fit into that category? What a phenomenal group we are!!

In the Mojave wondering what I could make for the feisty horses the next
corral over in order to thank them for entertaining me when I'm outside
firing...
