Hi
Can anyone tell me the best adhesive to use to "glue" ceramic fibre to the
inside of a soft fire brick cone 10 kiln? I want to tile or panel the inside
walls of a Alpine HF24 kiln to lower the costs of firing and to speed it up.

Bray Patch can be used as a ceramic fiber adhesive. It is very expensive for
that size project. Call Chip at the Bray Clay Business

I have had luck with sticking fiber to the inside of a kiln using AP Greens
Sairset. Cutting the fiber into 12" squares...Applying a generous coat on one
side of the fiber and the inside of the kiln (after wetting the soft brick to
keep it from drying out too quickly) and overlaping the fiber pieces about
3/4" to make up for the srinkage. This worked for me on the walls as well as
the inside of the arch.
Good luck Tracy Penland NC

I recommend Sairset. (to give you an idea of cost, we sell a gallon for
$17.50) Be aware that ceramic fiber is not a cure all. One layer of fiber at 1
inch thickness may save you 5 to 8% in fuel. That may be worth the time in
labor plus materials if you fire regularly. If you don't fire weekly, it may
not be worth it. You can dress up a dinosaur, but can you take it to the prom
and get it to dance?

It was still up three years later when I tore the kiln down.
