HOT PURSUIT
4-day workshop with Harvey Sadow in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
July 16 - 19, 1998 $590
This 4-day workshop will meet each individual needs and interests and
will focus on personal improvement and forming strategies which allow us
to actualize what we visualize rather than making compromises. Demos
will include altering the structural limitations of the clay, slowing
down the wheel throwing process, rethrowing, hyperexpansion and plate
flaring. Discussions and demos in relationships between form and
surface, revision of fired surfaces and a slide lecture and discussion
about the evolution of personal style. Students are encouraged to bring
bisque fired pieces with them to be raku fired during the workshop.
Harvey Sadow is known internationally for his innovative raku fired
surfaces and his tensely elegant vessel forms. His work is represented
in major collections including the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The High
Museum of Art in Atlanta and the White House Collection of American
Crafts. In 88, the Wlm. Benton Museum of Art mounted a 20 year
retrospective of his work entitled Harvey Sadow: Toward a Vessel
Aesthetic.
Students should bring their own clay tools and favorite brushes. Fee
$590. Call the Art Association at 307-733-6379 for more information or
to register - space very limited. Come enjoy this mountain town!
