Hi Clayarters,
We are tentatively planning a trip to New Zealand in May. We always like to
look up and visit local potters wherever we go. (we're not looking for
freebie accomodations, just an exchange of ideas.) Also, if anybody has any
pottery related ideas as to where to go and what to see, we would appreciate
it. You can E-mail me direct.
Thanks,
Annie Elena

Finding pottery in New Zealand
There's a nice one in Te Horo, just north of Waikanae on SH 1 (something
over an hour north of Wellington). Blamed if I can remember the
potter's name. It's across the rail line from the highway, don't get run over!
Just drive mate. In NZ there are a tonne of those "Pottery 500 metres"
signs and an arrow. Follow the arrow.
For a region, the best (IMHO) is the Nelson region. They have maps and
guides to all the potteries as well as a couple of nice galleries where
you can see a selection of all the potteries. The potters in NZ are
fantastic. Also check out Akaroa (on Banks Penninsula near Christchurch).
Go to the coromandel peninsula. There's a guide you can get off the visitor
information in the area; called the pottery trail.
There are a few potters in Auckland.
South Island has quite a few potters as well.
